All senior Appleton Stars players are signed up to this code of conduct.
1. No bad language. Please remember that young family members are often nearby.
2. You are expected to help with pitch preparation and management as requested on our home match days.
3. If during a match you receive a YELLOW card then the relevant League will fine you the amount set at the time (e.g. £12 during Season 09/10). You must pay this fine on time (usually within one week) else risk a disciplinary measure by the Club and an increased fine by the League.
4. If during a match you receive a RED card then the relevant League will fine you the (significant) amount set at the time (eg. £30, £50, possibly rising to hundreds of pounds - depending on scale of offence). Also the Club may elect to add a fine of their own, an amount not exceeding 50% of the League’s fine – again it depends on the nature of the offence. You must pay both these fines on time else risk disciplinary action by the Club and a (significantly) increased fine by the League. Clearly a red card will cost you money, so avoid them. Also, the League will ban you for several games.
5. We do not tolerate any sort of abuse to Match Officials, or fellow players, or Club Staff including the Team Coach. We understand that during a match tempers do rise, but you must restrict your comments to reasoned discussion after the match. Dare we say it – it’s only a game!
6. For any Match, where you are not picked for the starting eleven, you will be expected to act as Assistant Referee if requested to do so by the Coach.
7. The Coach decides who plays, and where. Do not seek to override these decisions by either complaining or simply playing to your own agenda. If you have a point to make, have a reasoned discussion outside of match day
8. Scheduled fees must be paid on time as requested during the season. These include Registration Fees, and weekly money to cover the cost of the Training Facilities. Your Team Coach will advise you of prevailing amounts and due dates.
9. You are expected to attend all Training Sessions. However we recognise that work or family matters can sometimes prevent this. You must inform the Team Coach at least one hour before the session if you cannot attend. A text is acceptable. Clearly, if you are unable to make a competitive match then inform the Coach as soon as possible.
10. You will be expected to keep our Kit in good condition. There is a separate Form for your commitment to this and to its safe return.
11. On match day you must pay close attention to all team talks. It is not acceptable that you walk away and do your “own thing”. This includes warm-up, half time and cool-down.
12. On match day you must turn up at the ground at the pre-agreed time.
13. For any training, or match, you must not turn up under the influence of drink or drugs.
14. Do not attend a match wearing any jewellery that you cannot remove. Referees take a dim view of this and may ban you from playing.
15. No racist or sexist comments. This could result in your immediate expulsion from the Club.
